◇ 考试介绍
北京英语水平考试(Beijing English Testing System,简称BETS)由北京市民讲外语活动组委会、北京市人民政府外事办公室与英国剑桥大学考试委员会ESOL考试部共同推出，由北京教育考试院承办。该考试是北京市政府实现“新北京、新奥运”战略构想和推进北京市民讲外语活动的一项具体举措，旨在引导和激励市民更快、更好地提高英语学习和应用的技能水平，提高市民的外语水平和首都国际交往功能，营造良好语言环境，是面向全体北京市民的英语水平测试
北京英语水平考试作为权威的英语水平测试，其测试标准符合国际语言测试标准，试题由英国剑桥大学考试委员会ESOL考试部及北京市民讲外语活动组委会顾问团共同研发，考试以听、说、读、写为核心，全面考查考生综合运用语言的能力。该考试能够真正使北京英语水平的测试标准与国际接轨，有助于北京塑造国际大都市的良好形象
◇ 考试对象
北京英语水平考试面向广大市民、公务员、学生、企事业单位及各行业从业人员，凡有兴趣参加北京英语水平考试的人员不受年龄、职业、学历、性别、民族等限制均可报名考试。
◇ 报名事宜
考生报名时，须持本人《身份证》【或持军人（武警人员）证件、户口簿、有效护照】按规定到考试点填写《北京英语水平考试报名表》（以下简称《报名表》）。交纳本人近期免冠一寸照片2张、考试费，并进行现场照相采集信息。北京英语水平考试收费标准：BETS -1考试每人190元；BETS -2考试每人230元；BETS-3考试每人350元。考生可根据自己的实际情况选择相应的级别报考

◇ 考试时间
北京英语水平考试的考试时间为每年两次，即每年5月份的最后一个周末和10月份的最后一个周末。
◇ 考试内容
北京英语水平考试由低到高共分一级（BETS-1）、二级（BETS-2）、三级（BETS-3）三个级别：

阅读：考生要在阅读标识、宣传册、报纸和杂志等材料的基础上理解其大意，获取细节信息，并能够根据上下文理解不熟悉的词汇和句子。

听力占总分的25%
约30分钟（包含8分钟誊写答案的时间）
考生将听到不同长度的对话或独白等材料，获取所需信息。

阅读占总分的20%
1小时15分钟
试卷由四部分组成, 每部分包括一到两篇文章及相应的阅读理解题。考生能够理解日常生活中接触到的各类材料，例如：宣传单、报纸、杂志或书信等。 考生能够抓住文章要点、获取关键信息、掌握文章结构及推测作者意图。

写作占总分的20%
1小时30分钟
试卷由两部分组成，每部分各要求考生写一篇120至180字的文章。第一部分根据给出的任务和要求完成写作，第二部分考生根据提供的几项任务及要求选择其一完成写作。

英语应用占总分的20%
1小时15分钟
考试内容包括：完型填空、句型转换、改错和构词。主要考核学生辨识和准确使用英语词汇及语法结构的能力。

听力占总分的20%
约40分钟
包含对话、独白、通告及采访片断等材料。考生能理解材料要点并获取细节信息。

口试占总分的20%
14分钟
考生两人一组同时应试；考生分别与考官交谈；考生根据提示资料相互交谈。
◇ 考试特点
1、国际性、权威性、科学性。测试系统整合国内外教育资源，中方专家团由国内知名语言教育专家组成，英方是世界著名教育测试机构英国剑桥大学考试委员会ESOL考试部。这样的组合既符合国际语言测试标准，又兼顾北京城市及行业特色，是北京市政府批准的各行业统一的英语测试标准。
2、适用性、实用性、综合性。北京英语水平考试考察听、说、读、写四项技能，内容全部取自真实生活和工作场景，考查的重点不是“知道什么”，而是注重“能做什么”。
3、开放性、普遍性、激励性。所有市民、各行业从业人员均可报考。采取国际语言测试标准，分为初、中、高三级，形成递进式英语测试体系。这种形式符合不同英语爱好者的水平，全面考查考生综合运用英语语言的能力。凡是取得北京英语水平考试证书的市民都将获得全市统一设计和制作的“I Can Speak English”胸牌。
◇ 考试成绩
每名考生都将得到一张考试成绩单。该成绩单上有对考试结果的详细分析。考生可以根据分析知道哪部分技能最好,哪些技能还需要改进。例如，考生通过考试结果可了解自己口试成绩很好,但是阅读部分较弱。也就是说,不管参加哪一级别考试,考生都可以鉴定自己的英语水平。北京英语水平考试是国际标准测试，级别与欧洲语言教学大纲相对应，例如：如果通过了BETS-3考试,即达到欧洲语言教学大纲（CEF）的B2水平。考试成绩可通过北京教育考试院网站：www.bjeea.cn 查询。
